Usually stock spur on a yokomo I think is 72t or 78t and mesh it up with pinion gears from a 23t-28t. Check out this link http://www.gearchart.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=chart.create. Final gearing should be between a 6 to 7.5

i run a 7.5 on my sprint. so it seems to be the standard for almost all drifters

What are your stock gears? Spur/Pinion size? What surface you run on? Internal Gear Ratio (diff) 2.32x spur/pinion= FDR With an 8.5 motor try running a final gear of 6.5 but on carpet I would stick with 7

Internal gear: 2.353 x spur (70)/ pinion (30) = 5.49

Your car is geared very low for a 8.5 motor, especially if you try drifting on carpet you will deffinetly fry your esc/motor. try running a bigger spur gear or smaller pinion gear by 2 to 4 teeth difference. I suggest running 72spur/28 pinion for asphalt and maybe 72/25 for carpet
