THE EVENT OF THE SUMMER IS NOW
The most competitive RC drift events invades California Speedway during the Redline Time Attack 2-day competition! This stand-alone event will feature a hybrid competition combining the finesse and excitement of tandem drift battle with the speed and precision of true time attack competition!

This isn't your usual parking lot event, because we will be holding the competition inside the world-famous speedway, right next to the pit/paddock where the full-sized competition cars are making their home for the weekend! You will also be parking your real car inside the Speedway, not outside of the track. The RC DriftClub Drift/Time Attack Challenge isn't just a side-show to a bigger 1:1 event - we are part of the festivities! The entire weekend will have television and magazine coverage!

Along with the competition, there will also be the Redline Time Attack competition featuring high speed, high-powered full-size 1:1 time attack cars trying to beat the clock on the world famous California Speedway!

In addition to the RC DriftClub Time Attack, HPI Racing will hold their RCGT competition on both days, showing off realistic exotic/GT/touring cars in door-to-door racing!

Also meet and take photos with Import Models Justene Jaro, Lisa Fleming, Misa Campo, and Jeri Lee at the JDM Theory NorCal to SoCal car show!

To top that off, this event will also serve as the Drift Showdown 2008 series wrap-up, where the grand prizes for the series will be given to the top 5 overall winners in each class!

This isn't your local parking lot competition, this is a big event with media coverage and full-size competition going on all weekend! RC DriftClub is where the best of the best will come to compete, and this weekend will be filled with full size racing, RC drifting, Import models, RC grip racing, show cars, and more. The ultimate challenge is here! This is an action-packed weekend, and THE biggest event this summer =D

Weekend Schedule and Format:
SATURDAY
Will Call opens at 7am Saturday. RC Drivers should show up at the gate just before 7am. This will ensure you are at the front of the line and can get in before the rest of the crowds. when you arrive at the entry gate, your name will be on a list for the RC competition. The person at the gate will direct you where to go to drop-off equipment, and where to park. Driver's meeting begins at 8:00am SHARP. Qualifying begins at 8:30am SHARP. Saturday competition time is 8:00am-12:30pm. The rest of the day you may experience the rest of the show and the Redline Time Attack competition going on at the event.

Saturday Format:
- DRIVERS MEETING
- SATURDAY GROUP PHOTO & CONCOURSE 1
- CONTROLLED PRACTICE/QUALIFYING (Time Attack)
- SHORT BREAK
- CONTROLLED PRACTICE/QUALIFYING (Drift Battle)
- OPEN DRIFT PRACTICE - for remainder of time until the start of RCGT (12:30pm)

SUNDAY
Sunday competition time is from 12:00 noon-5:00pm because RCGT will be during the morning until 12:30pm. We will have the drivers meeting during the end of RCGT at noon. Driver's meeting begins at 12:00 noon SHARP. Based on qualifying from Saturday, we will hold both Time Attack and Drift Battle finals on Sunday. Time Attack Finals begin at 12:30pm SHARP.

Sunday Format:
DRIVERS MEETING
- SUNDAY GROUP PHOTO & CONCOURSE 2
CONTROLLED PRACTICE/FINAL RUN (Time Attack)
CONTROLLED PRACTICE (Drift Battle)
TANDEM BRACKET FINAL (Drift Battle)
WRAP/UP - Prize presentation for Drift/Time Attack Challenge & 2008 Series

Controlled Practice/Qualifying (Time Attack and Drift Battle, Saturday):
Each group gets a 5 minute practice session before they qualify, instead of an open morning practice. This makes it even for drivers as far as "down time" between practice and qualifying, regardless of what group you're in. So when your group is called, you will get 5 minutes of practice, 5 minutes afterward for battery pack swaps/fine tuning, then the qualifying session begins.

Controlled Practice/Final Run (Time Attack ONLY, Sunday):
Drivers will be sorted in groups from slowest to fastest for the "Final Run." Each group gets a 5 minute practice session before they do their final run, instead of an open morning practice. This makes it even for drivers as far as "down time" between practice and competing, regardless of what group you're in. So when your group is called, you will get 5 minutes of practice, 5 minutes afterward for battery pack swaps/fine tuning, then the final session begins. Fastest 3 drivers win prizes.

Tandem BRACKET FINAL (Drift Battle ONLY, Sunday):
Tandem battles will have 1 practice lap PER PAIR. Same judging as all RC DriftClub events. Tandems will be judged VERY TIGHT. Top 3 drivers win prizes.

Time Attack layout is as follows:
Image
A. Staging area, all cars must be here before we begin.
B. Starting line is here.
C. Make sure you're on the inside of these dots, since you will be carrying a lot of speed through this section.
D. This is the finish line.
E. You DO NOT re-enter the staging area during your laps. Note the red lines outlining the course.

Tandem layout is as follows:
Image
A. Lead car starts here. Chase car starts at the second line, marked "G."
B. We will judge the ENTIRE lap.
C. We want to see a left to right switchback here. Speed/angle will be considered during judging.
D. We want to see the "max out" line here from BOTH cars.
E. We want to see tight apex drift here with no stalling.
F. We want to see tight apex drift here with a strong exit.
G. This is the finish line for a tandem battle lap.

July 14 Update)
Redline guys got back to me, here's more info:

GETTING IN:
There will be gate personal that will allow RC drivers into the vendor area were we will have our space all set to go (see map linked below) All RC drivers signed up will be allowed in for free; friends/family will be charged $15 per person, so if there are people riding in your car/truck at the gate and only you are competiing, the rest of the people will have to pay to get in. All you have to do is say you're with the RC car event and they get the discounted $15 entry fee - but I'd print the flyer just in case. We strongly suggest that people carpool as much as possible.

PACKING LIST:
An RC paddock will be provided. Everyone should bring the usual items (EZ-ups, tables, chairs, extension cords, power strips.) We encourage teams to share EZ-ups/pit tables, as space is limited.

TRACK LOCATION:
The track/pit area is located right in the MIDDLE of the raceway!) in between the vendor's area and the car show area. Like dead center. Like right there. LOL (see map linked below)

TRACK SURFACE:
The surface will be black asphalt. Weather predicts a tad hot, so traction will be good.

POWER:
AC power will be supplied, but everyone will need to bring extension cords and power strips, to divide the power up and to reach where we are located.

James, do these rules apply to the Time Attack vehicles as well?

The reason I ask, is I was planning on running a chassis that is a production touring car chassis but the name is not labled as a "TC" chassis.
