The first RC DriftClub event of 2009 returns to our home track at Speedtech RC in San Gabriel, CA! We're celebrating the Nissan Skyline GT-R, with the help of Tamiya USA and Speedtech RC. Enter the GT-R Battle class for a chance at premium prizes (1st Place Prize = Tamiya Kit), or run what you have in the Open Class and see how you compare with the competition! This is the first of many special events for 2009 by RC DriftClub =)

Event:
RC DriftClub / Tamiya GT-R Drift Battle

Date:
SATURDAY March 14th, 2009

Location:
Speedtech RC - 701 South San Gabriel Blvd., Suite B, San Gabriel, CA 91776

Image
GT-R class requirements:
1. All drivers must be using a Tamiya-brand GT-R body only (any Tamiya R32, R33, R34, R35 is allowed)
2. All bodies must have official event decals on body during Concourse, Qualifying, and Bracket battle.

UPDATED
- For BOTH CLASSES, at minimum you'll need to run the windshield banner and the main graphic (the big Tamiya Logo one) on the roof or the hood of your car.

Image

3. Vehicles will be teched throughout the day; anyone found not using the required body will forfeit the competition and any prizes.

Image
Regular Open Drift Bracket requirements:
1. RC Drift Network global rules will be used - please go to www.RCdriftNetwork.com for the complete rule set.

1. No rubber racing tires, no E-taped tires, and no unidentifiable tires (i.e. cut ABS/PVC/PE) are allowed during qualifying and/or main bracket competition.

2. All competition chassis must run drift tires mounted securely on wheels that are made and designed for 1/10-scale touring cars. Drivers are encouraged to glue their tires to the wheels with CA glue.

3. No “plus” sizing or use of “mini” scale wheels/tires; these will not be legal for qualifying and competition. The only exception is during open practice and/or concourse competition.

4. Unless a particular tire is specified by the event, drivers must run any identifiable, branded, “plastic-type” drift tire in competition. Tires must be easily identifiable for tech inspection. These include (alphabetical order by brand):

a. HPI Racing
1) #4406 T-Drift Tire 26mm
2) #4421 Advan Neova AD07 T-Drift Tire 26mm
3) #4422 Proxes R1R T-Drift Tire 26mm
4) #4423 Potenza RE-01R T-Drift Tire 26mm
5) #4424 Direzza Sport Z1 T-Drift Tire 26mm
6) #4425 Falken Azenis RT615 T-Drift Tire 26mm

b. Take-Off
1) #RPD RP-D Tires

c. Tamiya
1) #54020 Super Driftech Tire 24mm

d. Yokomo
1) #ZR-DR01 Zero-One ‘R’ double ring
2) #ZR-DR02 Zero-Two ‘R’ single ring
3) #ZR-DR03 Zero-One ‘R’ low-profile double ring

5. Tires must have at least 50% of the sidewall intact (approx. 2mm). Tires worn below this limit will be okay for practice, but may be flagged as “illegal” for qualifying and competition, due to the fact that they may not be easily identifiable.

6. If you use another drift tire than what is listed, please bring it to the attention of the event staff BEFORE the actual competition begins. The legality of the tire is up to the event staffs’ discretion unless clearly identified as ILLEGAL in these rules.

7. Anyone found or suspected of using a non-approved or unidentifiable drift tire may be asked to change to legal, identifiable tires, or will be subject to disqualification.

8. If illegal tires were used during qualifying, all qualifying points for the driver in question will be removed. If illegal tires were used during a tandem round, the driver in question will be disqualified.

Event Prizes:
GT-R Battle Class: Premium-medium prizes, 1st-3rd
Open Bracket Class: Medium-small prizes, 1st-3rd

BONUS #1
There will be a raffle for all drivers using Tamiya chassis, body, or tires during competition. To determine the number of raffle tickets you will get, add up raffle tickets by answering yes or no; each yes = a ticket (except #1, which = 3 tickets):

1. Did you enter the GT-R class? Yes = +3 tickets
2. Is your GT-R chassis a Tamiya chassis? Yes = +1 ticket
3. Is your GT-R tires Tamiya tires? Yes = +1 ticket
4. Did you enter Open class with a Tamiya body that is NOT being used in GT-R class? Yes = +1 ticket
5. Did you enter Open class with Tamiya tires that are NOT being used in GT-R class? Yes = +1 ticket
6. Did you enter Open class with a Tamiya chassis that is NOT being used in GT-R class? Yes = +1 ticket

So if you ran both classes and all Tamiya equipment listed (chassis, body, tires) then you will get 8 raffle tickets total.

*each person will only be eligible for one raffle prize that day. Having additional raffle tickets just bumps the odds up in your favor!

BONUS #2
The finishing order of this event will determine seeding positions for the upcoming RC drifting competition held at D1 Grand Prix on May 2nd in Anaheim, CA!

UPDATED
- GT-R CLASS will be DOUBLE ELIMINATION
- OPEN CLASS will be changed a little, we'll have 3 brackets (top 15, middle 15, bottom 10) with a bump-up system.

Start Time/ Morning Schedule:
• 08:00 Track and facility setup

• 09:00 Start of event / Morning OPEN Practice Session

During open practice, drivers should check-in at the judging table. you will receive your official decal sheet.

• 10:00 Driver’s meeting / Group Photo

• 10:15 Concourse Competition

• 10:30 Group Qualifying (see drivers list for qualifying groups)

One qualifying round only due to the high entry count. We will be mixing in the GT-R class qualifying with the Open class. I'll move some people around in the Open class so that everyone running two classes will have enough time to get ready.

• 12:30 Lunch Break / Open Practice / Tandem Bracket Setup

• 01:00 Tandem Battle – All Classes

Again we will be mixing in the GT-R class bracket with the Open bracket for some variety and change of pace. Cars will be teched, and (if you're running Tamiya products) your raffle tickets will be given to you.

• 03:30 Final Battles

• 03:45 Tamiya Raffle / Closing Ceremonies / Winners Photos

• 04:00 End of Event / Track and Facility Teardown

Any help with facility teardown is greatly appreciated. Also please remember to clean up your pit area and leave with it in the same condition as it was when you arrived.

7. Finish line for qualifying and tandem battles.
8. Will not count in tandem battle.
9. Staging area; this will be closed during practice.

added all above, also cleared up something regarding the raffle tickets:

*the extra ticket for Tamiya tires/body is PER ACTUAL VEHICLE; meaning, if you're running both classes, both chassis must have its own body/tires in order to get raffle tickets. So if you're using one chassis for both classes, but you're using the same set of Tamiya tires (or the same Tamiya body) for both classes, you would only get one extra raffle ticket; but if you have two Tamiya bodies and two sets of Tamiya tires on two seperate chassis for two classes, then that's 1 ticket each = 4 extra tickets. If this is confusing, PM me with what you're running and I'll explain how many raffle tickets you'll get.

I think this will explain it better; in order, add up raffle tickets by answering yes or no; each yes = a ticket (except #1, which = 3 tickets):
