Coming Soon 10.31.08

Keep an eye out on the 31st (you know, Halloween!) for a new website to be opened called RC Drift Network. It’s looking to help bring RC drifting to more than just a “niche” in the industry, and RC DriftClub (and a lot of our sponsors) support it 100%.

www.rcdriftnetwork.com is the address (bookmark it!)

RC DriftClub Special Edition “001″ Cyclone

There are only two of these in existance (one is part of the grand prize 1st place Class-I in our 2008 points series) and only one of these with drift specification - the one you see here. Starting from a kit Cyclone Moorespeed edition, the “Raine Edition” features different specifications optimized for RC drifting, not to mention a unique red scheme never seen on a Cyclone chassis. Tamiya’s R35 is here!

After starting life as a concept car in 2001 and moving to the prototype stage in 2005, the world was treated to the debut of the Nissan GT-R at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. Powered by a 3,799cc twin turbo DOHC V6 engine producing 480hp, this new GT-R has become the fastest production car to lap Germany’s famous Nurburgring. Yet this high-performance super car is also comfortable for everyday driving situations and meets tougher environmental regulations as well in order to live up to Nissans label of “multi-performance” super car.

Tamiya’s R35 Skyline GT-R is based on their new TT-01 type E chassis. Damper stay and gear case parts are made from fiberglass-reinforced resin for greater strength. These parts are now also separately molded to enable easier maintenance. New front and rear uprights are also made from durable fiberglass-reinforced resin. Improved steering linkage design features TA05 steering posts for sharper steering response. Completely new upper deck enhances chassis rigidity and mimics Tamiya’s high-level racespec machines. Upper deck also features a convenient transponder mount to further encourage fans to go to their local track and experience R/C racing. Injection-molded side mirrors and rear wing provide crisp detail. New wheels feature +2 offset. Includes ESC (TEU-101BK), Type 540 motor, and LEDs to install in the metal-plated front and rear light cases.

1101_02p.jpg

Drift fans, HPI Racing has a new line of motors designed just for drifting. The Drift Meister motors are available in 11T, 13T, 15T, 17T and 19T so you can choose the perfect amount of power for your drifting style. All of the Drift Meister motors have dual ball bearings for high efficiency and long life. The endbell features adjustable timing to help fine tune the power and performance, aluminum heat sinks to keep everything running cool, bullet connectors for easy installation, and color-coded silicone wires. The rebuildable design allows you to take the motor apart for a thorough cleaning, to cut the commutator, or replace the brushes. The Drift Meister motors look great too with Stage D graphics on the label, a stealth grey can, and color-coded anodized aluminum fins on the endbell.

Tamiya’s TT-01E more info

tt01e1.jpg

Here’s a top view of Tamiya’s TT-01 “Enhanced” version. Here you can see the addition of the new molded upper deck, which also supports the steering rack and rear gearbox.  A closer look shows the seperately-molded shock towers and new battery stay, although you can’t get a good look at the TA-05 steering posts. The different shade on the front/rear uprights and gear cases is new due to the use of Tamiya’s FRP (Fiber-reinforced plastic) which is stronger and stiffer than regular plastic parts.
