Round 4 was held at HPI Racing USA, and we had special guest and 35-time champion Joel “Magic” Johnson competing in the pro/invite class! Who won? Who made the top 5 overall? Who just missed out? Tomorrow @ Round 4, special guest driver Joel “Magic” Johnson will drive in exhibition class. For those of you who don’t know, Joel is a 33-time ROAR National Champion and 2-time IFMAR World Champion, in both off-road and on-road. He is currently head of Kyosho USA and part of AKA with fellow champions Mark Pavidis and Gil Losi Jr. Invited by HPI Racing’s president for tomorrow’s festivities, we will have Joel compete in Pro/Invite qualifying and possibly the time attack demo to show you his driving skill.

After starting life as a concept car in 2001 and moving to the prototype stage in 2005, the world was treated to the debut of the Nissan GT-R at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. Powered by a 3,799cc twin turbo DOHC V6 engine producing 480hp, this new GT-R has become the fastest production car to lap Germany’s famous Nurburgring. Yet this high-performance super car is also comfortable for everyday driving situations and meets tougher environmental regulations as well in order to live up to Nissan�s label of “multi-performance” super car.

Tamiya’s R35 Skyline GT-R is based on their new TT-01 type E chassis. Damper stay and gear case parts are made from fiberglass-reinforced resin for greater strength. These parts are now also separately molded to enable easier maintenance. New front and rear uprights are also made from durable fiberglass-reinforced resin. Improved steering linkage design features TA05 steering posts for sharper steering response. Completely new upper deck enhances chassis rigidity and mimics Tamiya’s high-level racespec machines. Upper deck also features a convenient transponder mount to further encourage fans to go to their local track and experience R/C racing. Injection-molded side mirrors and rear wing provide crisp detail. New wheels feature +2 offset. Includes ESC (TEU-101BK), Type 540 motor, and LEDs to install in the metal-plated front and rear light cases.
