VII. “Max Out” Contest

RC DriftClub’s “Drift Showdown” championship points series, “Streetstyle” competitions, and other events sanctioned by RC DriftClub will all adhere to a universal rule set as listed below. All RC DriftClub events will follow these official rules.

Max Out Contest Rules

A. “Max Out” Definition

1. “Max Out” is a shortened RC DriftClub term for “Maximum Out-Line,” or drifting the line closest to the outside wall with maximum speed and maximum angle. Do it wrong and you crash bad; get it right and you “Maxxed out.”

B. Max Out Competition Method

1. Max Out is done after regular bracket battles are completed. It is usually a “bonus” class in which drivers may participate in if they are already signed up in the regular bracket battle classes.

2. The course will be modified so that a long straightaway will lead into a large, sweeping, high-speed corner. Similar to an “Outside Line” qualifying zone, drivers are expected to take the high-speed corner as close  to the wall as possible, as fast as possible, without getting eliminated.

3. Drivers will go one at a time attempting the high speed corner. Any driver who does not complete the corner is eliminated.

4. After all drivers have each had a turn (one “cycle”), the corner will be modified to “up the ante” and make the corner more challenging. With each cycle the course will become more difficult, eliminating drivers until one is left. The last remaining driver will be the winner. Modifications may include some or all of the following:

- Driving lane is made narrower;
- Tight hairpins are added to the end of the “Max Out” corner;
- Obstacles to avoid (cones, etc.) may be placed inside the driving lane;
- Course is extended to add to the overall difficulty.

C. Last Two Standing

1. When there are only two drivers left, each driver will take to the course. Both drivers must complete a lap in order to advance. Both drivers must also match each completion, or the contest will end. In other words, if both drivers cannot complete a cycle, they will switch driving order and attempt the same configuration again.

D. Causes For Elimination

1. A driver will be eliminated from “Max Out” competition if any of the following occurs:

- Loss of Drift- Any situation in which the vehicle stops drifting before completing the course;
- Vehicle Spinout – A situation where the vehicle over-rotates beyond the intended drift angle.
- Contact – Any contact between the vehicle and the inside/outside borders of the “Max Out” course, or contact with any obstacles placed on the course.
- Crashes – any situation where a vehicle crashes or spins due to contact.
