VIII. “Drift Showdown” Scoring
RC DriftClub’s “Drift Showdown” championship points series, “Streetstyle” competitions, and other events sanctioned by RC DriftClub will all adhere to our official rule set as listed here.
How You Score Points in Drift Showdown
A. Scoring Procedure For “Drift Showdown” 2011 – Qualifying
1. 5 ROUNDS COUNT – Of the 6 rounds in the points series, only 5 will count towards each driver’s total series scores. Their lowest-scoring round will be “thrown out”. This lets the driver enhance their chances of winning the series in the event that they had a bad round, or did not attend one of the 6 available rounds to score points.
2. QUALIFYING POINTS ARE IMPORTANT – Points earned during qualifying WILL ALSO COUNT toward each driver’s total series scores. Therefore drivers should not only perform to their best of abilities during twin battle, but should also focus on qualifying in a high position to take advantage of the extra points earned.
3. AVAILABLE POINTS – Each driver will get an opportunity to score a maximum of 24 points through Qualifying, broken down as follows:
Lap 1 (3 scoring areas @ maximum 3-points each) = 9 points earned
Lap 2 (3 scoring areas @ maximum 3-points each) = 9 points earned
Speed score (maximum 3-points) and Technique score (maximum 3-points) = 6 points earned
9 + 9 + 6 = maximum 24-points earned from Qualifying
If a driver earns 24-points at the end of qualifying, they have qualified with a perfect score.
B. Scoring Procedure For “Drift Showdown” 2011 – Twin Battle
1. 5 ROUNDS COUNT – Of the 6 rounds in the points series, only 5 will count towards each driver’s total series scores. Their lowest-scoring round will be “thrown out”. This lets the driver enhance their chances of winning the series in the event that they had a bad round, or did not attend one of the 6 available rounds to score points.
2. AVAILABLE POINTS – Each driver will get an opportunity to score a maximum of 26 points through Twin Battle, broken down as follows:
Win in “Best-16″ bracket = +6 points earned (Loser gets 3 consolation points)
Win in “Best-8″ bracket = +6 points earned (Loser gets 3 consolation points)
Win in “Best-4″ bracket = +7 points earned (Loser gets 4 consolation points)
Win in Final bracket = +7 points earned (Runner=up gets 4 consolation points)
6 + 6 + 7 + 7 = maximum 26-points earned from Twin Battle.
3. TOTAL POINTS AVAILABLE PER ROUND – Thus if a driver gets a perfect score in Qualifying (24 points) and wins every bracket battle (26 points) then they will earn a perfect event score of 50 points.
4. TIES – At the end of the points series, in the event that there is a tie between two or more drivers, those drivers will be separated. We will then remove the next-lowest round score from their total (i.e. having 2 “throwout” rounds) in order to determine a tie breaker.
5. SCORING APPLICATION – All points earned during the “Twin Battle” series will be recorded separate from the “Max Out” points series. In other words, points earned in “Twin Battle” do not apply to “Max Out”, and vice-versa. Thus each driver will have two separate scores for the series.
C. Scoring Procedure For “Drift Showdown” 2011 – Max Out
1. 5 ROUNDS COUNT – Of the 6 rounds in the points series, only 5 will count towards each driver’s total series scores. Their lowest-scoring round will be “thrown out”. This lets the driver enhance their chances of winning the series in the event that they had a bad round, or did not attend one of the 6 available rounds to score points.
2. SCORING PER CYCLE – Each driver who successfully completes one cycle will earn 1 point. The longer a driver survives each cycle, the more points they will gain for that particular round.
3. SCORING AS THE CYCLE CONTINUES – As long as drivers successfully complete a cycle, they earn points. Thus the more cycles they complete at one round, the more points they may earn. There is no limit to the number of cycles per round, as long as there are at least two drivers still competing in the “Max Out” contest.
4. FINAL ROUND SCORING, PER ROUND – Once a “Max Out” winner is determined at one round, they will receive an extra 5 points added to their points total. The runner-up will receive an extra 3 points.
5. TIES – At the end of the points series, in the event that there is a tie between two or more drivers, those drivers will be separated. We will then remove the next-lowest round score from their total (i.e. having 2 “throwout” rounds) in order to determine a tie breaker.
6. SCORING APPLICATION – All points earned during the “Max Out” series will be recorded separate from the main “Twin Battle” points series. In other words, points earned in “Max Out” do not apply to “Twin Battle”, and vice-versa. Thus each driver will have two separate scores for the series.
